Call me crazy :-) but a little apple pie a la mode in the Negev in Israel, with Snoop Dogg and Katy Perry never hurt no one! Because if you're in the desert with some apple pie anyway, seems like one should be rockin' out to a home-country anthem. Oh, side of brownie cookies too, please. (licks fingers!)
(02.07.11)I would probably be found trekking through the Sinaloa desert region of Mexico looking for the greatest Tequila not yet discovered by a gringo. Whilst there, I couldn't resist the regional specialty of Tres Leches Cakes drizzled in agave nectar.
Who doesn't love this light, super moist cake covered with nature's sweetest thing next to sugar? Mmmmm.
(02.07.11)I'll eat a "tarte au citron meringuee", a French dessert and I'll eat it on a beach in Reunion Island because this is my hometown. I'll eat it with my friends, next to a fire on the beach, in the night, facing the ocean. Totally cheesy huh? Hahaha!
(02.07.11)I should win because I'm French and French patisserie is the best in the world! Sorry guys, this is the truth! And I'm dying to meet Sarah Rhoads!!
Since I live the next town over from some of the best CUPCAKES in the nation (Main Street Cupcakes), I would for sure to bring one of these scrumptious delecacies with me to Red Rock Canyon in the Mojave desert so I can, of course, share it with some kick ass photographers and the staff of Rue Magazine. ;)
(02.07.11)One love...chocolate. One dessert...chocolate decadence cake. One tagline..."chocolate is good for the soul." Oh yes, it is a symbol of love, desire, affection, and relieves life's stressors. Chocolate is truly a wonder food. What better place to enjoy it's sweetness than alone in the middle of the desert. One hope...to be chosen for the Vegas editorial shoot. Sincerely, a chocoholic dreamer.
(02.07.11)Ice cream would seem like the best choice for the desert but while I like ice cream it is not my favorite sweet. I would choose a lemon cupcake from this local bakery shop that makes the most delicious cupcakes EVER! They are sweet but not too sweet and the tang of lemon mixed with the wonderfully thick layer of creamy smooth vanilla buttercream frosting atop a fluffy airy lemony cake softly melts and sinks into the flavor buds within the mouth leaving one in a happy place indeed. These are no ordinary cupcakes, they have been refined by the cosmic dessert gods and goddesses. The desert I would eat this scrumptious dessert in would definitely be Joshua Tree and not because of U2. My husband and I visited this desert a few years back (before we were married) and have been struck by its magical witchy ways ever since so much so that we got married there surrounded by rocky peaks and desert landscape. Eating a lemon cupcake dessert in the Joshua Tree desert under the shade of one of the massive rock formations surrounded by Joshua Trees, cacti and lizards as the sun descends from the sky painting the desert skies orange with slashes of pink with the love of my life is a scene that blazes sparklers in my brain. I would like to win this contest because I adore Sarah Rhoads Photographers' work and would appreciate the chance to see how she and her husband work in an actual shoot as I am an aspiring photographer myself with a lot to learn. It would just be so exciting to have the opportunity to meet these two and watch them create their magic. Also I have a great love of the desert and would like a reason to visit. I'd be happy to bring cupcakes to share! thanks!
(02.07.11)Oh the possibilities! I imagine myself living a nomad's life in the caves of Cappadocia, Turkey http://tinyurl.com/49bp2j2 each day making my way from beehive to beehive, tree to tree collecting the sweet nectar and nuts to be used in my very own recipe of Turkish Delight: http://tinyurl.com/4egbqv2 I'd cook up a huge fire and melt down the sugar and walnuts into a gooey, viscous mass, after mixing I'd pour the sweet treat into a tin mold I've pounded myself. after cooling I'd divide the treats and toss them into a cloud of soft, white, powdery sugar, happily licking the dust from my fingers as I go...After a restful afternoon nap and a tea to awaken the senses, I'd share the delights with all friends and family who could hear the echo of my voice in the hills of the ancient land...Sagliginiza!
(02.07.11)This is a tough one I always say desert is my favorite meal, but after giving it some thought I think that one of the best, most amazingly wonderful desserts I've ever had was from Pace, in LA. I actually need their molten lava chocolate soufflé cake just to survive at this point. There is nothing like a warm chocolate masterpiece made just for you. It's perfectly huge and fluffy with an abnormal amount of melted chocolate in the center that comes gushing out when you first dig in. Then not only is it topped with sparkly sugar crystals, but it’s served with a side of fresh vanilla bean ice cream, SO GOOD!!!! And where to have such a decedent dessert you might ask? Well, I would absolutely have my desert dessert in an amazing cave of Antelope Canyon, Arizona... unbelievably gorgeous... and thought I'm not one to EVER share my dessert I would have to invite a few lucky friends to my dessert party (yes, I saw 127 hours, and I wouldn't want to take any chances).
(02.07.11)A s'more - a gooey melty and warm marshmallow toasted over a fire pit, stuck between two graham crackers and a slab of hershey's milk chocolate....bite into it as the sun goes down & a chill descends over the lunar landscape of the white desert in Egypt....a combo of marshmallow & oozy chocolate spill out the sides... YUM. Heaven :)
(02.07.11)Since you said ANY desert, i'll go with Antartica. I'd love to bundle up, see some penguins, because let's be honest, penguins rock, while eating a piping hot molten lava caramel fudge cake. As far as winning? I work in design, and have a big interest in print, marketing and advertising, as well as think Rue, Sarah and Chris rock... oh, and i'm already in las vegas! :)
(02.07.11)Mmmm. Blackberry cobbler. A la mode. On a beach in Bonaire (which is basically a desert island). Because warm weather, the blue ocean, surrounded by flamingos and donkeys WHILE eating cobbler? Yes, please! Can someone be feeding me the cobbler, too?
(02.07.11)Simple question. Simple answer. Nutella. With a spoon. The all jar. Just because. On a sofa. Watching 30 Rocks with my hubby. Et voila! That's the way we do it in Paris! Simple mais efficace.
I should win because I come all the way from Paris, France and my accent is charming, n'est ce pas? ;)
I should win because I will bring Nutella with me. I swear! You will get addicted too trust me. And oh I can be useful to hold a reflector... see you have to make me win now ;)
(02.07.11)Hailing from New Orleans, I'd have to go with King Cake. It's only available during the Mardi Gras season, and it's cinnamon-y, braided bread heaven topped with icing and sugar. Oh....and there's a little plastic baby hidden inside. The person with the baby in their piece of cake has to buy the next one. You should pick me because I'm easy to get along with, and if you're gonna have someone stalking you, well...you should like 'em. :)
(02.07.11)I am soooo excited to learn and see what Renaissance has to offer and all the amazing vendors. I will definitely be inspiring and mind boggling at the same time. I've actually neve been and always wanted to go! Please send me:)
(02.07.11)ANY dessert? In ANY desert?? hmmmmm..... Well since this is MY fantasy, then I would choose to feast on this biggest , crumbliest, chewiest brownie on earth, covered in Trader Joe's vanilla bean ice cream. The reason for my choice is that I'M ALLERGIC TO CHOCOLATE! boo :( But, since it's my fantasy, I would get to eat whatever I want. Since brownies smell so amazing when they're baking...that's my choice! And of course I would savor my brownie al a mode in the deserts of Egypt. Among all the pyramids. And camels :) That would be so fun!
(02.07.11)I would feast on a Death by Chocolate Trifle and of course I would eat at Death Valley! Death by dessert or desert! I can just imagine my trifle now - a layer of brownie (mine would be double fudge with walnuts), chocolate pudding, and whipped cream made from real whipping cream - then repeat the layers until you can layer no more! Ok, I am totally getting hungry after imagining a Death by Chocolate Trifle in my head, and especially love all the layers so that you are guaranteed to have a little bit of each in every bite. I'd probably wolf it all down and lick the container clean before it would even start to melt in Death Valley. Do I get to pick the size of the trifle too? I'd want it to be extra high, like in a hurricane glass and have a special spoon for it so I can get all the way down to the bottom. And an extra long spatula, so I can squeegee off the glass and lick it off the spatula!
(02.07.11)I would eat a dinosaur cake with my two little cowboys and my husband on the beach of the French riviera in Nice, France. Now. The dinosaur cake would be made of the champagne cake from Morpheys in Seattle that we had for our wedding... But iced with grocery store chemical frosting. You know, the kind that gets crunchy on top after hitting the air and won't melt in water. I went there as a teenager and would love to bring my family there and to be a little naughty by eating a trashy American dessert in the dessert capital of the world. Of course- with champagne! And the cake would be a dinosaur because you get more chemical frosting that way. Half of a two layer cake with head and tail made completely of icing. Yum. I should win cause A. I'm a hoot and B. I live in Reno (vegas' ugly little sister) dear god please help me...
(02.07.11)As for my selection, I expect it would be something terribly simple yet so wonderful. As I do not require much nor need a great deal of things in my life, my dessert follows closely the trail I venture. I would have to say that I would venture on down to Menchie's Frozen Yogurt and pick up a medium sized selection of coconut frozen yogurt (or as it's called cofroyo), and pile on the goodness of fresh black berries, coconut shavings, small pieces of dark chocolate, and topped with a pomegranate sauce drizzled on top. Then walk to the Bellagio and with the small plastic spoon taken from the stainless steel container at Menchie's, just slowly eat the delicious froyo in the content simplicity of watching something as plain and yet highly enthralling as the fountains going off into the light flooded night of the Las Vegas strip. Just letting the the cool and sweet flavors of the fruit and yogurt melt in my mouth as I enjoy the small things in life, such as knowing I am blessed to be in front of the Bellagio, watching the famous fountains launch streams of water high into the night sky, as I slowly consume frozen yogurt. I would love to win, because not only am I greatly inspired by both Chris and Sarah, I love taking photos and making desserts with some of my best friends. Cakes, cheesecakes, cupcakes, candies, I really enjoy both dessert and photography. I would be extremely blessed for the opportunity of getting to come along.
(02.07.11)AMAZING giveaway! And you should be quite proud - I actually set up a twitter account just so I could enter (and I've been resisting the "tweet world" for quite a while!) If I were to choose one dessert while in the dessert? Hmmmmm....that's a tough one. I'll go with ice cream. Lots and LOTS of ice cream (moose tracks) with whipped cream and nuts. :)
(02.07.11)Moon pies on the moon!
The moon's a desert, right? A sorta kinda unearlthly desert?
The best part would be the kind of no-gravity bobbing-for-apples sort of thing, 'cause the moon pies would just be free-floating all crazy and shit: I'd be swimming after them through the air with my mouth open and a bottle of chocolate sauce in one hand, ready to douse them in syrup: ready, aim, fire. Oh yeah, I'd be wearing a silk brown space suit with a little pillbox hat. FYI.
(02.07.11)I would, hands down, be eating an enormous, warm chocolate chip cookie (preferably in a skillet) with vanilla bean ice cream on top. Hot fudge would obviously be drizzled on the ice cream. There is absolutely nothing better than a perfect, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip cookie. And as for the desert? I would have to say the Arabian Desert. Because I love Aladdin. :) He is dreamy. And why should you pick me? Because I am a newly graduated Fashion Design Student, who thinks that Rue Magazine and Sarah Rhoads are amazing, and when I look at their stuff, I am inspired. And that's all a designer can ever ask for. It would also be the coolest opportunity I have ever had!
(02.07.11)I would choose to eat mango shaved ice - a dessert consisting of fresh mango (yum!), shaved ice (perfect for quenching thirst in the desert!), evaporated milk, and ice cream. I like mine with the option of coconut jelly. I would be eating it in the Chihuahuan Desert (chosen for its biological diversity and the fact that it gets occasional rain). I think I should win because I have a thirst for learning and will soak up the experience like a sponge. Sarah's photography is inspirational and I am a dedicated (almost daily) reader. This is really the coolest opportunity. I am thankful for this chance to enter the contest.
(02.07.11)French macaroons (in France, naturally). I traveled across Europe by myself for a few weeks after college, and I spent a few days eating my way through the french desserts in delightful solitude. I would wander into a little dessert shop, point out a few macaroons and devour them before I made it outside the shop. A close runner up is the gelato in Rome.
(02.07.11)well.....st, OBVIOUSLY [antoine dodson style] i'd dig a piece of the olive garden's black tie mousse cake in the australian outback desert. why? well, deserts aren't really my thang in the first place (i prefer personal hydration, and death by methods other than reptiles in starvation mode), but if i was gunna be in that spot, i'd want to be surrounded by beautiful red, earthy goodness and baby-eating dingos as i sat and nommed the creamy white cheesecake covered in oozing chocolate mousse, paired with the insane chocolate chip crust. the beautiful marriage of crunchy chocolate chips and gooey everything else is far too divine to replicate anywhere else. plus, as i sat and ate this black tie mousse cake, i would be thinking of the black tie affair of airplanes+blazers that i would be attending in just a few short days! (you see, i already have tickets!)
why should i win? well, i gave in to peer pressure and signed up for a twitter account as a result of this contest. if that ain't enough, i'm a photographer that has long adored the likes of sarah + chris, as well as rue mag. this kind of experience would be so overthetopdreamy for me that i should best lay of liquids for the days prior. not that i'm prone to peeing in my pants, but if i ever did, this would be the kind of excitement that would seal the deal!
(02.08.11)I would feast on the scrumptious sands of the Kalahari desert with nothing but chop sticks, whilst loafing in the icky-sticky-ooey-gooey meringue of a lemon torte by the raspberry rivers that flow there, and hoping to catch some sun rays because my epidermal layer needs a good dose of lemon juice and a decent sprinkling of paprika … I confused the criteria, I deserve to win.
(02.08.11)Well, I see only one option. I'd be eating Haagen Dazs in the the Mojave Desert. Because the only reason you'd find me in any desert is because I was watching Sarah Rhoads shoot with Rue. And they would have packed pints of Haagen Dazs because it gets hot in the desert. So when the crew crows, "thats a wrap," we would crack open a few of those pints and have a post shoot dessert. And the clear choice would be the perfectly creamy texture of none other than Haagen Dazs' Chocolate Ice Cream. Sarah, you've been an inspiration to me since I was introduced to your work a few years ago. You are an amazing example of a business woman who has branded herself, and your work is just SO fun! I'd love to meet you and see you in action... pick me!
(02.08.11)easiest question ever. Cheesecake. I have a love affair with cheese cake. I love it all, any kind as long as it has that cheesy goodness. I guess my favourite would be german chocolate cheesecake, chocolate cake, yummy coconutty icing and cheesecake all in one? Its supa awesome! Anyway I'd love to win.. I'm a photographer in Winnipeg and I need some of your awesome to rub off on me.. so I can bring to these lovely deserving people up here!
(02.08.11)A Poem, for Sarah Rhoads and RUE. :)
A dessert in the desert?
An Awful Conundrum this does cause.
How does one pick,
What feast Sarah Rhoads would draw??
There's dreamy eclairs, drizzled with icing,
and poached peaches with berries...
Also a grilled brioche backed to my liking!
As you can see, desserts make me merry,
Especially when served on platters of crystal
While basking in the sun on the Arabian Peninsula.
And then there's gelato of all different forms,
Chocolate, Pistacio, and Mango oh my!
If I don't win a spot at the workshop I may cry
And even worse, I may just even die.
Of course there is room for an apple crostada,
doused in whipped cream...
while wearing a turban and dancing in the Atacama.
Oh, doesn't it just sound like a dream?
But, I must pick a favorite,
boring as it may be.
The most understated of all desserts...
A brownie it would be.
It's ooey and gooey with a lava filled center,
and one taste of it's goodness makes my heart flutter.
Just thinking of it makes me want to sink my teeth in,
while exploring the outback called the "Great Sandy Simpson!"
And while in this dessert
chocolate would fall from the air
I'd dance and lather myself
And get it in my hair.
A wonderful magic land
of chocolate delight.
Ripe for the picking,
by Sarah Rhoads and I!!
:)
(02.08.11)I have actually thought about this quite frequently as I have been on a diet for the past 5 years. I dream about desserts ALL of the time. My most frequent dream however is about tiramisu. I LOVE Italian food...pasta, rich sauces and the delicacy of tiramisu. I love the scent of coffee and the light, airy, sponginess of the ladyfingers. I would eat my perfect tiramisu in the Outback of Australia because while I'm dreaming I can certainly dream of meeting up with Hugh Jackman. I have truly been inspired by Sarah and could think of no other way I'd rather spend an afternoon than learning from her. Her style is so creative and unique. Making yourself unique in this industry is so incredibly difficult that it's refreshing to see someone that does it so well. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win such a fabulous prize!! I hope I win!!!
(02.08.11)I have never been a fan of desserts chocolates, or sweets, but if I had to pick a dessert of choice, it would be my mother's chocolate eclair as I sail on a cruise around the Carribean. Obviously I would let my mother tag along since she slaved in the kitchen making this extremely rich phenomenal dessert topped with her handmade whipped cream. I would love to win this contest to see sarah and chris in action. They are amazing photographers and just having the chance to see them behind the camera and in action on a photo shoot would be such an awesome experience. Please pick me!
(02.08.11)mmmm. i'm from las vegas, born and raised and let me just tell you, we have come a long way in the food world... so many choices. There are two options for dessert in the, molten lava cake, because sometimes it feels like you are sitting in a volcano by the time it hits june, and you begin to feel one with the desert. And two... Ben and Jerry's mint chocolate cookie ice cream because it is flipping good and keeps a nice layer of fat on me to protect me from cactus' (or is it cacti?) Pick me, I will show you around town, and I am pretty awesome to be around. no lie.
(02.08.11)Oh man, I am on a diet right now so this is killer.
I would go for a GIANT (and I do mean HUMONGOUS) platter of hot (not so hot that you can't eat it right away though, but hot enough to not be considered just warm) double fudgy, gooey, sinfully delicious brownies topped with salted caramel ice cream from Molly Moon's (in Seattle) and doused with hot fudge topping, homemade fresh whipped cream, chopped Texas pecans, and 27 bright red, shiny, juicy cherries. And this is all calorie free, of course!
(02.08.11)What: If melting was not a factor.....Cherry vanilla shaved ice shipped special delivery from New Orleans.....or from vegas...I'm not super picky. If melting exists in this desert dessert utopia...my mom's peanut butter cookies.
(02.08.11)If it's really cold outside.... home made hot apple cider from my friends farm in Maine.
Where: Sitting on a rock among the towering red boulders of Joshua Tree National Park....or the desert outside Vegas is cool too.
Why: Taking a break from shooting an editorial ad campaign of course.
Why I should win? I don't think family portrait sessions are the end of the road for me and I'd like to experience new challenges, step out of my comfort zone and be open to learning whatever I can.
I dream about going back to the awe-inspiring 360 degree view of flat, red, magical desert in Australia's Northern Territory. The last time I went there I was on a high school trip with a bunch of Aussie adolescents (I'm a Californian girl who was raised down under) and I remember feeling like life and all of it's possibilities were as expansive as that desert. Now put a massive pavlova (Australia's national dessert) topped with heaps of fresh kiwi fruit, strawberries and blueberries in the middle of that desert with me and my mates and my expansive and slightly-more-matured-mind, and that would be my nirvana...only to be topped by me getting the opportunity to witness Sarah Rhoads and Rue in action, all up close and personal. I think Sarah's photography is as expansive and awe-inspiring as that desert, and I strive for those qualities in my own photography, but I'm not quite there yet....so by picking me you'd be granting a dream and guiding an artist towards discovering their creative vison.
(02.08.11)Well, I'm a fan of blue bell milk chocolate ice cream with a nice amount of frozen marshmallows. (I'm originally from WA and never heard of blue bell until I came to good ol' Texas) AMAZING.
This would be a dream and I'd love to have this opportunity so that I can grow in my photography and learn from 2 of the coolest photographers. Thanks Sarah and Chris for this amazing opportunity!
(02.08.11)What? Baked Alaska. Where? On the Titanic with a dog named Trouser sitting beside me. Why? Isn't baked ice cream on a luxury cruise ship before a tragic death everyone's fantasy? I should win because working as a grip for Sarah and Chris sounds like a rad Wednesday to me.
(02.08.11)I would sit down with one little container of Spread's White Chocolate Pretzel Peanut Butter...... They are based in San Diego, California and my oh my that is just amazing. The peanut butter has this phenomenal crunch which is soon followed by the sweet creaminess of decadent white chocolate whose sweetness is then complimented brilliantly by the salty organic peanut taste. Absolutely amazing!
(02.08.11)I've never been to Zion National Park (Mojave Desert) in Utah, but I think it's one of the most beautiful places on earth. Those sweeping red vistas and mysterious slot canyons carved into the crust are breathtaking. If you could stick me on a cliff-side with a fresh fruit strawberry popsicle in the warm evening sun, I would be in heaven.
I'd love to join Sarah + Chris + Rue to see how the behind the scenes action goes down. I've seen their work and read about their mentoring sessions and I know that I could learn a lot from watching Sarah + Chris work. Plus, I'm adventurous and up for anything-- I can help where needed and take mental notes on the side. I'd love to get my hands dirty!
(02.08.11)Ahhhh! I am kind of obsessed with gummy bears in my desserts. So let's just say this.... tons of enormous gummy bears all tucked away into strawberry cheesecake goodness, topped off with shavings of real strawberries in the biggest WAFFLE cone ever...and at the bottom of the cone is: a carmel covered apple dipped in mini baby gummy bears.Whew... and I will be eating this all very quickly in Egypt ( with one eye open) :D
(02.08.11)Ahhhh! I am kind of obsessed with gummy bears in my desserts. Whew... and I will be eating this all very quickly in Egypt ( with one eye open) :D I would love to see how The Rhoads roll with their incredibly inspiring photography. I am 21 and when I get engaged I hope to book with them asap!! Ha. I am taking photography classes in college and can't wait to start a photo business. I love their style and would be so grateful to experience a shoot with my favorite photographers of all time. I am pretty stoked.
(02.09.11)I'd get a dozen Salted Caramel cupcakes from Phoebe's in Chi-town. The description of them is the best part. "Vanilla Cake soaked in Homemade Caramel with Caramel Buttercream Frosting topped with Himalayan Rose Sea Salt." Take them to the Karakum Desert where I could scream, "I just ate a dozen cupcakes and I lovvvedddd itttt!" Because if you scream it and no one hears you, the calories don't count right?
(02.09.11)mmm hands down the bomb desert is a giant Pizookie (aka giant cookie in a cast iron skillet) served a la mode with vanilla bean Blue Bell ice cream served at a Brewery in Texas!!! On top of getting engaged last night this will be the only other thing I would wish for!! I would then have it all!!
(02.09.11)This ish is Bananas...B-A-N-A-N-A-S!! My sweet tooth (which will most certainly be the death of me) would choose only one dessert to eat if I were stranded in the desert (more specifically Death Valley), I would choose this AMAZING and life changing Bananas Foster (from the metropolitan grill in seattle). You start out with 2-3 large scoops of decadent madagascar vanilla ice cream, followed by the bananas being flambed in butter & brown sugar then topped onto the ice cream and lastly a creamy thick caramel sauce is drizzled on top for the finishing touch. It's nothing short but a taste of heaven. And if i were dying a slow and painfully hot death in the middle of the dessert, this would be the light at the end of the tunnel. :)
(02.09.11)Ahhhh, Dessert... that perfect little space meant for lingering after a great meal. But the perfect dessert is an elusive one. So many variables come into play: the season, your mood, location... But there is always one that melts my heart. The molten chocolate cake. I don't know if it's the adorableness of the individual ramiken or the little secret hidden in it's dark, earthen center. All I know is that when my fork dives deep into the chocolately goodness and emerges, dripping with melted magic, steam wafting upwards--is that a smile is soon to follow. And long, closed-eyed, fully satisfied smile. And then comes the happy dance. Chocolate, thank you for being you...

(02.09.11)I love desserts though what I have been craving as of late is Tiramisu. The mixture of coffee, cream, lady fingers, a dash of chocolate shavings is out of this world. When I took my first bite of tiramisu, the combination of the flavors was nearly overwhelming but in a positive way. The taste of cream, coffee and a dash of chocolate powder on the top reached my taste buds faster than the taste of the lady fingers and I was surprised when I hit the bottom of the dish. My first taste of tiramisu was at an italian restaurant called Grazi's. I have wanted to return there but have yet been able to. I could image myself having a delicious bowl of Tiramisu in a cafe in Palermo,Italy overlooking the beautiful crystal blue sea of the harbor. I would have it put in a to go container after a few bites, then wander down to the harbor to walk barefooted on the warm sand with the warm soothing sea lapping at my feet while enjoy bites of my dessert as I go along. That is my idea of a wonderful dessert.
(02.09.11)I'm a sucker for a might delicious Key Lime Pie. I feel that with any dessert but most importantly key lime pie it is imperative to taste it with all the parts of your mouth. It's not a great look while eating this way in public but worth the funny looks to REALLY experience the flavours! YUMM!! Plus I should win because I'm awesome and I'm getting pretty close to stalkerish status so appease me a little will you!
(02.09.11)My desert would be an artic one, somewhere in my cold homeland of Alaska. In contrast my dessert would be a very hot blueberry cobbler with a creamy maple drizzle. I would use leftover local wild blueberries I had picked from the summer. My cobbler would be cooked over a fire in an old black dutch oven. Then sound of the bubbling cobbler and crackling fire would be the music the green and purple northern lights danced to in the sky. The combination of the tart deep purple blueberries and the sweet creamy maple drizzle is perfection. This is the easily the best dessert to compliment such a magical desert. As a photography student and lover of Rue this would be one AMAZING experience!
(02.10.11)I am a man of simple tastes, I would enjoy a warm chocolate chip cookie with a glass of whole milk. I think I should win because I am super cool and kind of a big deal.
(02.10.11)A gigantic glass of rich chocolate mousse. With white chocolate shavings on top. And maybe a cherry. Okay, DEFINITELY a cherry. Maybe in a glass that's shaped like the Space Needle? Okay, that's just sucking up. But seriously, that'd be pretty neat right? And it's chocolate mousse. C'mon! Although not outspoken on their blog, I am an avid follower of Chris and Sarah's blog and am consistently inspired by their work. Given the chance to shadow them for a Rue Magazine shoot would be a dream come true. And I'm not being modest, I'm serious. But don't call me Shirley.
(02.10.11)This is gonnna be short and sweet.
(02.10.11)Dessert: Giant banana split from Leatherbys icecream shop (in Vegas of course). It's a sexy dessert and that's as far as I'll go.
Desert: Mojave. It's a little bit of ugly but a wholatta of fun!
Place: At the new Neon Museum because it's iconic Vegas vernacular will light up the pages of Rue! http://www.neonmuseum.org/
You should pick me because I love Rue, great design, great photography, you wouldn't have to buy me plane tickets because I live in Vegas and I'm a new mom to three boys all under the age of 4. I desperately need a little bit fun and I will bring you treats (or booze)- your pick!
I'm traveling in a caravan across the Sahara desert. We come upon a white tent. In this tent is the most elaborate spread of cakes and cupcakes I’ve ever seen. Mouth watering, decadent cakes of all different flavors, with of course, the best buttercream frosting in the world. I am in heaven. I’ve been craving these like water since my wedding, which has oddly enough lead me to this contest. For about two years have been following all of your amazing blogs and have been truly inspired by the all the incredible talent out there. I have decided I want to be a a part of it. I couldn’t imagine anything better than being on a shoot and learning from the very same masters I have been inspired by.
(02.11.11)i'd be eating my own ooey gooey, warm apple crisp (fuji apples, sinful cinnamon, fresh butter, organic oats, brown sugar-the darker the better...) topped with cool, melty vanilla bean ice cream while i'm sitting on the sandy desert floor of the valley of death under a bright, radiant full moon because i never have ever before. i should win because you want some of that apple crisp.
(02.12.11)Lavendar ice cream is the sweet, subtle taste of the heavens... soft floral notes will send you to the clouds. What a perfect pairing with the toasty desert sunshine of the Australian Outback! Juxtaposition (often) makes beauty; and I'd love to witness beauty with you two and Rue!!
(02.14.11)white chocolate gelato...anywhere in Arizona, California, or Nevada!!!
(02.15.11)Basil Creme Brulee...simply because it's a dessert of juxtaposition. It's raw emotion defined in a dish, much like Sarah and Chris' photos. There's a hidden treat in the dessert in that it combines the honesty of two traditional tastes with a modern twist. It's these qualities enveloped in the Rhoads' work that infatuates me and the deep connections between their couples that I'm interested in seeing first hand.
